Amelia Deschamps premieres her first documentary short at DOC NYC

“In Search of the Blue Heart” shows the life of the miners who extract the larimar in the artisanal tunnels of Los Chupaderos mine, in Barahona.

-New York, USA. Amelia Deschamps made the world premiere of her first documentary short at DOC NYC, America’s largest documentary festival.

“In Search of the Blue Heart” shows the story of Daniel, a miner who after 32 years working in the Larimar mine in Barahona, seeks to make the last extraction of it to retire.
“I feel proud that this first work is on a clearly Dominican theme. It is the story of the LARIMAR miner, in Barahona. It is THE STORY OF THE PEOPLE who enter every day through the risky artisan tunnels to extract that blue-sea stone, exclusive to that mountain in the Dominican Republic, and which today is recognized as a National Stone” explained Amelia Deschamps, director and producer of the documentary.
